What’s wrong with the youth of today? Are they so depressed or fed up with their lives that they find the option of committing suicide easier than living?
It’s very saddening that a fourth-year student named Nidhin N at IIT-Kharagpur has ended his life on Friday by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. He was the student of aerospace engineering and a suicide note which had “Let me sleep” written on it had been found from his room. He stayed at Nehru Hall B Block and his body had been sent for post-mortem by cops; however, there had been no comment from the side of institute authorities over the matter.
Shockingly, 22-yr Nidhin N from Kerala is the third engineering student from the same campus to have committed suicide in the year 2017. Even more amazingly, this is the second suicide in a month at IIT-Kharagpur.
As per cops, he used to study at night by waking up at 2am but on Friday, his alarm kept on ringing which made other hostel students doubtful. When they rushed to his room, they found that he had shut the door from inside and he wasn’t giving any response. Officials of the hostel got alert when Nidhin was nowhere to be seen that day. Later, few students broke the window panes of his room and discovered that he committed suicide by hanging.
Authorities called the police and Kharagpur’s additional SP as well as the OC reached the location after which his body was recovered. As per Bharati Ghosh, West Midnapore SP, the case is being investigated and cops are analyzing the suicide note found from Nidhin’s room.
Just to inform, it was on 16th January that the first suicide at IIT-Kharagpur took place, while the second suicide happened on 30th March.
