But very few know that apart from Maggi, there is one brand from India, which is ban in the USA. The very favorite snacks company in India with huge turnover – Haldirams. Yes, the FMCG company and its food and snacks have been banned in US, the hoopla over the food company have been going around for years now.
According to a report in Wall Street Journal (WSJ),“US food-safety inspectors have labelled hundreds of Indian food products this year as unfit. Food-safety inspectors alleged that they have found to contain high levels of pesticides, mold and bacteria in these products and the same was mentioned in the the FDA website. “
The harmful pesticides in Haldiram foods were found last year and from then the research has been going around. Now, the FDA reports declares that the snacks are unfit for consumption and contains “poisonous” elements that can harm the health.
However, Haldiram has a different story to say
“Our food is 100% safe and complies with the law of the land. A pesticide that is permitted in India may not be allowed there. And even if it is, they may not allow it in the same concentration as it is here.” said a senior official from the company.
