The star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah continues to draw widespread admiration for his outstanding performances with the ball and one of his latest admirers is none other than former England captain Nasser Hussain.
Now a well-regarded commentator and cricket analyst, Nasser Hussain spoke candidly about how facing Jasprit Bumrah would have been a daunting challenge for him. Reflecting on the pacer’s skill and unique angle, he acknowledged that in a five-match series, he would not have stood a chance, conceding that Jasprit Bumrah would have dismissed him every single time.
Sharing his thoughts in a video posted on X by a sports portal, Nasser Hussain remarked that unconventional angle of Jasprit Bumrah would have completely undone him, humorously admitting that he would not have lasted long against the Indian fast bowler.
Here is what Nasser Hussain said, “I would have had an absolute nightmare. Anyone that created that angle like he does would get me out for fun. He would get me out 10 times out of 10 in a five-match series. He is just brilliant, and I wasn’t.”

The former English batter, who was born in Chennai, had an illustrious international career spanning from 1989 to 2004, amassing over 8000 runs in 96 Test matches and 88 ODIs. He also captained England in both the formats during his playing days.
Since making his international debut in an ODI against Australia in Sydney back in January 2016, Jasprit Bumrah has carved out an extraordinary career for himself. To date, he has played 45 Tests, 89 ODIs and 70 T20Is, claiming more than 400 international wickets. His contribution was crucial in India’s triumphant campaign during the T20 World Cup last year, where he was named Player of the Tournament for his remarkable bowling performances.
In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, Jasprit Bumrah showcased his dominance yet again by taking 32 wickets, earning him both the ICC Cricketer of the Year and the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year accolades in 2024. Currently ranked as the world’s No. 1 Test bowler, Bumrah is spearheading India’s bowling unit in the ongoing first Test against England at Leeds.
His latest masterclass came on June 22 when he picked up a five-wicket haul, finishing England’s first innings with figures of 4 for 83 in 24.4 overs. That performance etched his name into the record books. He became the first Asian bowler to reach 150 Test wickets in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. He also equalled Kapil Dev’s tally of 12 five-wicket hauls in away Tests for India and now shares the record for the most five-wicket hauls in the World Test Championship with 11. Additionally, he became the first Indian bowler to achieve three five-wicket hauls in England.
Jasprit Bumrah’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary and with each performance, he not only inspires a generation but also earns the respect of legends who understand just how special a talent he truly is.
