A deeply troubling case of public harassment has surfaced from Rajiv Chowk in Gurugram where a model was allegedly subjected to a disturbing act of indecency by a stranger while she waited for a cab in broad daylight. The incident, which took place around 11 a.m. after the woman had returned from Jaipur, was brought to public attention through a video she later shared online detailing her ordeal.

According to her account, the man began by staring at her persistently, which she initially dismissed, assuming it to be yet another instance of the casual discomfort women often face in public. However, the situation escalated quickly when she noticed that the man had unzipped his pants and was openly m@sturbating in front of her. She managed to capture the incident on her phone, which later served as critical evidence.
Speaking in the video, the model expressed how shocked and disgusted she felt, describing the man as fully aware of his actions and intent on making her feel uncomfortable. She admitted that, in the moment, she froze, unable to react, record or confront him immediately. She acknowledged that while many might question why she didn’t hit him or scream for help, they often fail to understand the paralysis and fear such traumatic moments induce.
In addition to dealing with the incident itself, she faced further frustration when she tried to contact the police control room and the women’s helpline but failed to get through. Determined to take action, she searched for the nearest police station’s contact details online and reported the incident. However, she was informed that a formal written complaint would require her to visit the station in person.
The situation garnered widespread attention after she posted the video online and tagged the Gurugram Police and Haryana government, prompting an outpouring of public anger. Responding to the outrage, the Gurugram Police registered a case at the Civil Lines police station under Sections 75(2) and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police spokesperson ASI Sandeep confirmed the filing of the complaint and stated that efforts are now underway to identify and locate the accused. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to aid the investigation. He assured that appropriate legal action will follow based on the facts that come to light during the inquiry.
The incident has once again raised urgent questions about women’s safety in public spaces, the immediate accessibility of support systems and the need for stronger on-ground response mechanisms.
