In the world of Indian cricket, 14 years old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already emerging as a standout name, proving that age is no barrier when it comes to talent and temperament. Representing the India Under-19 team on their tour of England, he has caught the attention of fans, selectors and cricket pundits alike with his remarkable all-round performances. What began as a promising batting display has now grown into a well-rounded contribution with the ball, enhancing both his reputation and his match earnings.
Displaying a rare maturity for someone of his age, Vaibhav has consistently delivered across formats during the ongoing England tour. After a successful outing in the One-Day Internationals and a commendable showing in the drawn Test opener, he continues to showcase why he’s considered one of the brightest young prospects in Indian cricket. His earnings reflect his growing stature as well. As per the BCCI’s player remuneration structure, members of the India Under-19 playing XI receive Rs 20,000 per day in match fees. Having featured in the playing XI in every match so far, Vaibhav has already minted Rs 1 lakh from the five ODIs and another Rs 80,000 from the four-day Test match, bringing his total earnings on this tour to Rs 1.8 lakh.
With one Test match still remaining and no indication that he will be rested or dropped, it is expected that he will earn another Rs 80,000 and that will take his total earnings from the England tour to Rs 2.6 lakh, an impressive figure for a 14-year-old still in the early days of his career.
The journey has been just as impressive on the field. In his debut ODI series in England, the left-handed batter scored 48 runs in the opening game, followed by 45 and a stellar 86 in the subsequent matches. But it was in the fourth ODI that he truly announced his arrival on the international youth stage with a sensational 143-run innings. He concluded the series with a more modest 33 in the fifth match. In the first Test match which is still in progress, Vaibhav contributed 14 and 56 runs in two innings, along with two wickets, further cementing his value as a genuine all-rounder.
The statistics tell a promising story. Vaibhav has accumulated 100 runs in five first-class games and 132 runs from six List A matches. In the T20 format, he has already scored 265 runs in just eight appearances, boasting an extraordinary strike rate of 207.03, numbers that speak volumes about his attacking prowess and future potential.
Adding to the excitement around his career, Vaibhav was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 auction for a whopping Rs 1.10 crore, making him the youngest cricketer in the IPL history. His rise has not gone unnoticed, with media reports estimating his net worth at approximately Rs 2 crore already.
As the England tour nears its conclusion, Vaibhav is expected to get at least two more innings to further demonstrate his growing skill set. With every opportunity, the young left-hander appears determined to leave a lasting impression, not just as a teenage prodigy but as a future star in the making for Indian cricket.
