However, Anurag Thakur, the president of BCCI claimed that if Rahul Dravid would have accepted this offer, there was no need of such a long process. Yes, you heard it right! This offer was given to Rahul Dravid but he rejected it.

According to reports, Anurag says

“I requested Rahul Dravid to coach the Indian team. He didn’t say no, but said that he will work for the junior team. That is the good thing about Dravid. He didn’t go for the senior team post, big money and all. He wanted to work for the junior cricketers and not the senior team,”

As per Anurag, Rahul said “I can only do short-term assignments, I can’t stay away from home for long periods of time, short assignments suit me better,”

This shows that despite of being offered a huge amount, Rahul preferred sticking to his decisions and didn’t be greedy about money! Cheers to him…

Sandeep Patil, Venkatesh Prasad and Ravi Shastri had also applied for this role. However, now the new coach has been welcomed whole-heartedly by the team!
