Yesterday, we saw how Anurag Kashyap criticized the Censor Board with regards to removing Punjab state references from the movie ‘Udta Punjab’. Today, a press conference was held and many top filmmakers attended it, in order to support Anurag Kashyap and his movie ‘Udta Punjab’. However, the directors and the cast of the movie have come up with some valid points with regards to censorship.
They openly attacked Pahlaj Nihalani, the chief of Censor Board who had ordered 89 cuts in the movie and asked to remove ‘Punjab state references’ from it.
Finally, we came across this cut-list and no doubt, it is too disappointing. The Censor Board has put forth baseless demands and all this points towards political pressure!
Here are some ‘Cuts’ which Censor Board feels audience shouldn’t see! Check It Out!
Cut No.1: Delete Punjab’s signboard in the beginning
Cut No.2: Delete names of cities such as Jalandhar, Punjab, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and more (All reference of Punjab cities whether in songs or dialogues should be removed)
Cut No.3: From Song Number 1: Name of a drug (References to drug nowhere)
Cut No.4: Words from song 3 (Delete the word ‘Chitta’ from the song)
Cut No.5: Delete Abuses
Cut No.6: Delete words like, MP, elections, Party worker, Party, MLA, Punjab parliament (No references: no govt rep references (38 mins)
Cut No.7: Song no:3 Delete the scene of a scratching Sardar.
Cut No.8: Censor board wants long disclaimers like: The film focuses on the rising menace of drugs and the war against drugs and is an attempt effects of drugs. We acknowledge he battle against drugs being fought by govt and police but it can’t be won unless people of India unite against this menace”
Cut No.9: Second disclaimer of fiction to be increased according to audio/video.
Cut No.10: Delete the shot of urinating by Tommy in front of the crowd.
Cut No.11: Delete the close-up shots of injecting the drugs wherever it appears.
Cut No.12: Delete the line ‘Jamin Banzar te Aulad Kanjar’.
Cut No.13: Delete the name of the dog as ‘Jackie Chan’
