He’s a Common Tea Vendor Who Fought Case Against Biggest Bank Of India And HE WON

You must have heard a general phrase, “NEVER UNDERESTIMATE ANYONE” and today, we bring you a real life example of the same where a tea vendor of Bhopal challenged SBI and DEFEATED the bank!

Sakre, the tea vendor, recently fought a case against State Bank of India which is considered among the biggest banks of the country and guess what, HE WON THE CASE!!

Although Rajesh could study only till 5th standard, this fact never created a hindrance in his way and he not even once hesitated in challenging SBI which is run by govt. It was in the year 2011 that he found Rs. 9,200 missing from his SBI account. As reported by Bhopal Samachar, this tea vendor had a sum of Rs. 20K in the same bank and as claimed by him, he made a withdrawal of only INR 10,800. But when he visited ATM the next time, he got to know that there is no money in the account.

He rushed to a branch of SBI for complaining the same; nevertheless, officials there behaved rudely as well as held him responsible for what happened. Afterward, Sakre appealed in the Mumbai HQ of SBI and as expected, it also proved to be of no use. Finally, he turned to District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum and registered the case.

Quite sadly, Sakre could not afford the fee of hiring an advocate; therefore, he made his mind of fighting the case himself with SBI attorney.

State Bank of India claimed that Rajesh withdrew money from his account; nevertheless, they were lacking a proof in support of their statement, such as CCTV recording. Subsequent to nearly 12 proceedings, the tea vendor won this fight!!

16th June proved to be one of the best days in his life, as the judgment was made in his turn by consumer court which commanded that SBI would give him Rs. 9,200 back plus compensation with an interest rate of 6% in the period of 2 months. Additionally, SBI would have to pay him INR 10K for causing mental torment as well as INR 2K for legal expenditures the tea vendor had to bear because of them.

Indeed, the story of a common tea vendor who won the case against one of the country’s biggest banks is an inspiration for all of them who leave such issues just thinking of the time and money which will be invested in fighting a case!
