Chennai may have been hit with the worst flood of the century but it has taught the whole world, the definition of Humanity. There are many examples to narrate as to how the ordinary people have shown extraordinary acts to save the life of flood affected people.
Among all those incidents, one of them has become very special as a Hindu couple has given a Muslim name to their new born daughter after they were saved by a Muslim man.
Mohamed Yunus (26) helped a Hindu couple Mohan & Chitra from the Urapakkam area, Chennai.
Amidst the heavy rainfall, Mohan and Chitra were stuck in their house, while it was necessary for them to reach hospital on time as Chitra was pregnant and she was having her labour pains. The neighbours of Mohan were also leaving their house as the water level has reached till neck, so it was getting difficult for Mohan to handle the situation.
Just then, Mohamed Yunus, who is CEO of a start-up reached there in a boat and rescued both of them and took them to a nearby hospital. Chitra was going through pain so to calm her down Mohamed Yunus narrated a story for her.
Chitra gave birth to a baby girl and the couple has decided to name her as “Yunus” after the name of the person who entered their life at the perfect moment and saved them.
For Yunus, those 15 minutes on the boat with couple are the memorable moments of his life, he is what he shared on Facebook:
Yunus has been doing a lot to help the victims, he has hired 4 boats to save the flood-affected people, for which he paid Rs. 1 Lakh on his own. He has also vowed that he will donate half of his salary for the victims.
Here’s what he said:
“I hail from Nungambakkam and I realised on the night of December 2 something is not right and I thought of helping my friends in Urapakkam area, which was one of the worst-hit areas due to the heavy rainfall.”
Mohamed Yunus is very eager to make a visit to the new born baby girl and he has also promised to the couple that he will bear the education expenses of the girl.
You don’t need to go to heaven to meet angels; some of them are still on the earth in the form of people like Mohamed Yunus.
