Is This Hinting Towards Danger? 4 Km Wide Asteroid To Pass Near Earth On 1st September!

Since a long time, we have been hearing about asteroids zipping past the Earth and now, NASA has come up with one more such incident that’s going to happen on the 1st of September.

Yes, according to NASA, another asteroid will zip past Earth on September 01 but it’s going to be a bit different this time.

It says, “The rock that’ll hurtle past us is the largest near-Earth object (NEO) we’ve seen since we began tracking them 20 years ago.”

The agency has said that the massive asteroid is around 4.4 km wide and this is the “Closest” encounter of an asteroid with Earth. As per reports by NASA, this asteroid termed “Florence” will pass just 4.4 million miles (7 million km) from Earth. (If you can’t get an idea about the distance, it’s 18 times the distance between moon and the Earth).

NASA says that this particular asteroid has the capability of causing mass destruction in case it hits our planet. However, the space agency says that at least for the next 500 years, there’s NO CHANCE FOR COLLISION.

Manager of NASA’s Center for NEO Paul Chodas said that till now, many asteroids have passed near the Earth but all of them were small as compared to Florence, which will pass on 1st September.

It is also said that this asteroid would be visible for few nights to small telescopes (August end to early September).
