Hirani Hits Back At Salman Khan & Revealed Why Sanjay Dutt Didn’t Play Sanju

There is no denying the fact that Ranbir Kapoor starrer “Sanju” is one of the most awaited movies of the year. The biopic of Sanjay Dutt naturally highlights different shades of his life and we must say that Ranbir has tried to portray Sanjay Dutt to the perfection. The trailer was highly appreciated and people just loved Ranbir’s flawless acting. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that all these elements have made it difficult to wait for the movie to release.

However, when Salman Khan was asked to react on Sanju’s trailer, he made a comment which didn’t go well with many. As per Salman, when Sanjay’s last few years were to be shown, the makers should have got the role played by Dutt only and not Ranbir.

Responding to this statement, Ranbir said that no one played the role himself or herself in the biopic and hence, opting for Sanjay Dutt for the role was out of the question.

Now Rajkumar Hirani has also reacted on Salman’s statement, saying that he too once had the thought of getting the older version of Sanju played by Sanjay Dutt but he gave up the idea because of a valid reason.

Here’s what he said,

“The thought of Sanjay as his older self in the film’s final portions had crossed my mind for a moment, but then I let it go as I felt it would be too abrupt and weird.”

He added,

“For one, you are seeing Ranbir as Sanju throughout most of the film, and then suddenly, you see Sanjay playing his older self, which would have automatically disconnected the public’s link with the film.”

Other than Ranbir Kapoor, the flick stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, etc. and is slated to release on 29th June.

It is said that Salman was not happy with Ranbir playing the character of Sanjay Dutt in the biopic as he is miffed with the actor for his alleged relationship with Salman’s ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

Do you agree with Rajkumar Hirani or do you think that Sanjay Dutt should have played the role? Let us know your opinion.
