Hospital Billed A 7 Yr Old’s Parents 16 Lakhs In 15 Days For Dengue Treatment. She Died

These days, people don’t get proper medical healthcare, if they don’t have sufficient money to spend on it. In government hospitals, there is lack of facilities, which is why people prefer being admitted in private hospitals. However, when it comes to private hospitals, the bills are HUGE.

Since saving the life of loved ones is important, some don’t give priority to money at all. They are ready to spend anything and everything the hospital charges for appropriate treatment. But looks as if hospitals have started taking an advantage of this thing.

Recent case that has come to light is that of Gurgaon’s Fortis hospital. A 7 year old girl Adya suffering from dengue was admitted in the hospital, but surprisingly Fortis charged her family more than 1 lakh per day. She was admitted for 15 days i.e. 31st of August to 14th of September, and the total billing amount went up to 16 lakhs. Sadly, she passed away. However, parents were shocked to see this 20 page lengthy bill, and they demanded an investigation for the same.

Reports said,

“They had refused to give Adya a death certificate. And even asked the family to arrange for another hospital’s ambulance to take her. This was because the hospital didn’t want a dengue death on their hands.”

Is this the way, hospitals are treating patients? Has this become a new business?
