Hosting a party on the New Year Eve for your friends, relatives and loved ones at your house can arrange a night in lock up for you, if you are from Thane and you have not procured the license and permission required for hosting the party.
The State excise officials of Thane will check each party and celebration gathering whether it is in a house, hotel or dhaba and action will be taken accordingly if the alcohol is being served without proper permission.
Many people come out of their houses to welcome the New Year which caused traffic jams and to avoid this situation many people decide to celebrate at their house. However, this year celebrating indoors with few friends also requires a license which cost Rs. 5 and it will be valid for a day allowing the consumer to possess and drink alcohol.
For hosting a big party at a flat, hotel, resort or dhaba, FL-4 license is required which will cost around Rs. 13,500. In the situation of being caught without license, as per the Bombay Prohibition Act, the accused might spend a night in the lockup.
Arjun Ohol, deputy commissioner, state excise, Thane said, “This year, we have formed special flying squad teams to keep a vigil on illegal parties and possession of liquor. Strict action will be taken if one is found with the illicit liquor. We will snoop down on bars, dhabas on highways and resorts.”
He further added, “The consumer should possess a license even if the person is drinking inside his apartment. A house party organiser will be booked for illegal possession of liquor if he does not have adequate permission to host the party.”
Checking will be done on many dhabas which are on Eastern Express Highway, Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway along with many other resorts during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
