The cricket teams of India and Pakistan haven’t played any bilateral series for a long time now but they have clashed against each other in international tournaments and many feel that India visiting Pakistan next year for playing the Asia Cup 2023 will help in easing the atmosphere but things have taken an ugly turn recently.
There is a rise in the tension between India and Pakistan after the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) secretary Jay Shah who is also the chairman of ACC (Asian Cricket council) confirmed that the Indian team won’t be travelling to Pakistan. He has also laid emphasis on organizing the tournament at a neutral venue which is most probably UAE.
This statement has not gone well with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its chief Ramiz Raja and as per the sources, in response, they are thinking of pulling out of the 2023 ODI World Cup which is going to be held in India. PCB has also demanded an emergency meeting of ACC Board in order to discuss this matter.
While Twitter is abuzz with reactions on this matter, the official Twitter handle of Iceland Cricket took this as an opportunity to have some fun and it came up with an offer to host the Asia Cup just like it offered to host a bilateral test series between India and Pakistan. If you remember, some time ago, England and Wales Cricket Board offered to host the bilateral test series between India and Pakistan. The offer was rejected outright by BCCI and then Iceland Cricket took a dig at ECB by coming up with the offer.
Iceland Cricket tweeted, “Needless to say, our offer last month to host a neutral Test series between Pakistan and India fell on deaf ears, despite offering some unique rules & fan focused opportunities. We are happy to bestow the same offer for the Asia Cup. The Arctic can offer @bcci what Asia cannot.”

India and Pakistan are going to face each other on 23rd Oct in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is being held in Australia and the recent developments will further intensify the contest.
Iceland Cricket’s official Twitter handle is known for making funny tweets in good spirits and we don’t feel that there is any chance of the Asia Cup being held there. What do you think?
