“If MS Dhoni Was Their Captain…,” Wasim Akram Makes Bold Statement On Virat Kohli & RCB

The IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the strongest teams of the IPL in almost all the seasons as many big names of the cricket world such as Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, etc. have played for this team but still this team hasn’t been able to win even a single title despite being associated with the IPL since its inaugural edition of 2008.

RCB played 3 IPL finals till now, first in 2009 against Deccan Chargers (now defunct), second in 2011 against Chennai Super Kings and third in 2016 against Sunrisers Hyderabad but all the three times it ended up on the losing side. However, a former Pakistani cricketer feels that if MS Dhoni had led RCB, then it would have won 3 IPL titles till now.

MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper has been leading Chennai Super Kings since 2008 and under his captaincy, CSK has won four IPL titles which makes him the second most successful skipper of the league after Rohit Sharma under whose leadership, his IPL team Mumbai Indians won IPL five times.

The former Pakistani great Wasim Akram stated in an interview that RCB would have won 3 titles till now if MS Dhoni had been their skipper. He adds that RCB hasn’t won even a single trophy despite having a top player like Virat Kohli and they also have a very strong support from fans. Akram feels that MS Dhoni could have helped RCB in winning a trophy.

Wasim Akram further talks about MS Dhoni and his captaincy, he says that Dhoni is habitual of leading a team, even Virat would have got habitual of it by now but Dhoni had this habit. Akram says that though Dhoni is not calm from inside yet he shows as if he is calm and cool. Akram opines that when a player gets to see his skipper is calm and chilled, his skipper keeps hand on his shoulder then the confidence of the player gets increased. Wasim Akram adds that Dhoni is one such skipper who knows how to infuse confidence in the cricketers of his team.

MS Dhoni is certainly one of the most successful skippers of the Indian cricket world as he is the only skipper to win three ICC trophies – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has been associated with RCB since 2008 and he has led the team from 2013 to 2021 but he hasn’t been able to make his team win even a single trophy. The Indian team also didn’t win any ICC trophy under Kohli’s captaincy and his aggressive attitude has also made him a target of many former cricketers and cricket fans.

As far as the IPL 2023 is concerned, RCB is at the 5th position with 5 wins and the same number of losses in 10 matches that they have played.
