A complaint has been registered by a lady constable against the IG Police, Chhattisgarh in the Chakrabhatta police station of Bilaspur. She has alleged that the Inspector General Police, Pawan Dev (1992 batch) was s*xually harassing her. She has also submitted audio clips in support of her complaint in which IG can be heard supposedly calling her at unsuitable hours to his house.
The audio clips were made available for the media persons by her at Raipur before she was leaving to meet DGP AN Upadhyay for demanding justice.
It seems as if she doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned as she has sent her complaint to Raman Singh, CM of the state, national women commission and state women commission in hope of prompt action against the concerned officer.
Harshita Pandey, the chairperson of state women commission has already ordered an enquiry into the matter; however the officer in question has denied all the allegations and declared it a “conspiracy” against him.
This is what IG Pawan Dev said, “I had earlier ordered dismissal of an assistant sub-inspector of police (ASI) Ashish Wasnik. The woman constable who has hurled charges against me is close to him. Hence, a conspiracy was hatched to avenge the action taken by me against the ASI.”
The audio clips were recorded on June 17-18 when she was posted on VIP duty in Bilaspur and as per allegations, IG called the lady constable and expressed his desire to post her in IG office. This is what IG said to her, “You are beautiful and you have a good figure. I have started liking you. I want you to be in IG office so that I can meet you daily,” as alleged by the lady constable.
