4 IIT-Kanpur Students Decline 1 crore Pay Offers

When it comes to placement news and salary amounts, IITs and its students have always topped in the whole country. You may recently have heard about a Mumbai IIT girl getting 1.4 crore salary offer from Facebook. Worlds most top companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Oracle come to the IITs every year to search for their right candidates. Now, the center of attraction is IIT-Kanpur where as many as four students have turned down 1 crore salary offers.
Prof Deepu Philip, the chairman of the IIT-Kanpur placement cell said, “The offer to these four students was for a take-home of $150,000, or close to Rs 93 lakh per annum. Along with other incentives and perks, the size of the package was more than Rs 1 crore yearly. The girl student and one of the boys declined the offer saying it did not match their temperament and that they wanted professional fulfillment from their jobs. The two have accepted offers of Rs 50 lakh per annum from a smaller company. The remaining two students said they want to focus on higher studies and were, therefore, not keen on taking up the Rs 1 crore offer.”IITKLibrary
He however refused to disclose the names of the students. IIT-Kanpur started its placement drive on 1st December and will continue till 24th December. In another news, the highest salary of 1.5 crore was offered to a IIT-Kharagpur student few days back. However the authorities of IIT-Kharagpur have also refused to talk on that saying it’ll bring unnecessary attention to the student.
