Import Duties To Double The Price Of Pendrive

Import Duties To Double The Price Of Pendrive - RVCJ Media

According to a new proposal, the Pen Drives imported form China may soon cost you double the rate it costs now.

The Directorate General of Anti- dumping and Allied Duties ( DGAD) has recently said that the pendrives from China are being imported to India at a price less than their actual value.
The application for this investigation was filed by Storage Media Products Manufacturers & Marketers Welfare Association on behalf of the domestic producers represented by Moser Baer India Ltd.

If this proposal gets accepted, then the 2GB Pendrive might cost around the price at which a 8GB pendrive is currently sold.

India Electronics and Semiconductor Association’s (IESA) chairman opposed this and said –

It is startling to see that a flat rate $3.12 & $3.06 for imports from China and Taiwan respectively has been proposed. This is an average almost 160 per cent duty over the basic import price of the USBs in 2GB to 8GB capacities. This will put a huge burden on the consumers.

Rashi Peripherals Director Suresh Pansari said–

We would like to join the government in its endeavour of ‘Make In India but not by burdening consumers. It needs to improve infrastructure, address finance issues to make manufacturing competitive in India rather than taxing latest technologies from reaching to consumers.

Amazon has not increased the prices yet, so it’s better to buy the Pendrives before prices get increased. Click any of the below link and Buy the pendrive/memory cards at dirt cheap price (Cash on delivery also available):-

So, what do you think about his?? Is this step of increasing the price on the name of Make in India justified?? Does this support the idea of our PM’s ‘Digital India’??
