Kashmir has always been a matter of concern for India since Independence, as its neighboring nation Pakistan has been exporting terrorism and terrorists across the border.
Undoubtedly, Pak has been receiving support from some Kashmiris who have their own vested interests in supporting the country. Despite such situation, India has always tried to maintain peace and harmony in the valley; however, after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani by the armed forces, the situation has become so bad that the government has been compelled to impose curfew.
The tension between India and Pakistan is constantly increasing and after Uri attacks, our country also decided to take some strong action which resulted in the surgical attack across the LoC by the armed forces.
At a time when the clouds of war are flowing above India and Pakistan, the acting CM of J&K, Mehbooba Mufti, said that India is the safest country for the Muslims in this whole world.
In her words,
“Aaj kal ke waqt mein agar duniya ke kisi koney mein humare musalmaan secure hain, toh wo humare mulk ke andar hain.” (“Today if Muslims are secured anywhere in the world, it’s in India.”)
India has also refused to attend the SAARC summit which was going to held in Islamabad, Pakistan. This decision is supported by other three member countries too, i.e., Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan and consequently, they have also refused for the same. Unwillingness shown by these four countries for attending the summit has resulted in its cancellation and with this move, India has isolated Pakistan in the Asian region.
On SAARC issue, Mehbooba said,
“Pak mein SAARC hone wala tha, aur mujhe umeed thi ki PM ko wahan jaane ka mauka milega. Par kaise jaayein? Kin haalaat mein jaayein?” (“SAARC was to happen in Pakistan and I had hopes that our PM will get an opportunity to go there but how will he go? Under what circumstances will he go there?”)
However, she also didn’t miss to state that the biggest loser is Kashmir and its citizens.
