A lot of cricketing action is going to take place in near future as Asia Cup 2023 is going to start from 30 August 2023 and after that, the mega event of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will start from 5 October and it will be hosted by India this time.
There is no denying the fact that India will have an advantage of playing in their home but still it won’t be easy as it will increase the pressure on the Indian team as well. The comeback of Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul has further strengthened the Indian side but the former Indian cricketer Madan Lal feels that India has a good chance of winning Asia Cup but World Cup will be challenging for them.
While Shreyas Iyer is completely fit, KL Rahul has developed a fresh niggle which is not much serious and nothing can be said about their match fitness as they may have undergone match simulations and friendly matches at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru but they haven’t played any competitive cricket.
During an interview to a leading daily, Madan Lal states that he is concerned about the fitness levels only. Talking about Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, Madan Lal says that it would have been better if they had played a couple of games as it would have increased their confidence and it would also have given reassurance that they are fit and injury-free.
He further says that he is sure India will win Asia Cup but World Cup will be challenging as top six teams will be playing in the tournament. He says that playing at home has its advantages but it will increase the pressure as well. He adds that the good thing is that all the players are experienced and they know how to deal with the pressure.
Let’s hope that India wins both Asia Cup 2023 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
