What the hell is happening to smartphones these days? Every now and then, we see phones exploding and causing severe injuries due to faulty batteries. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 handsets were recalled by the company due to such issues.
Now, latest to join the club is none other than your favorite iPhone. People have a lot of craze for these costly handsets by Apple, but unfortunately, they too have proved to be quite dangerous. Want to know what happened?
Well, an incident has come to light wherein a student from Burlington County, N.J named Darin Hlavaty got minor burns on his leg, after his iPhone 6 plus exploded in his back pocket.
What happened was that this student was attending his physical science class around 9.45 am in the morning, when he noticed smoke coming out from his smartphone.
Darin said that the phone wasn’t on charge and the battery was already dead. Luckily, there were no severe injuries, but it did cause a big hole in the pocket. The student says “It was super hot so I flinched, grabbed it, threw it on the ground. Had to kick it because it was on fire,”
All the students were shifted to another classroom, and fortunately, none of them were injured. Rebecca Bookbinder, Darin’s classmate, stated that all the students were shocked when they saw smoke coming out from the pocket.
It is surprising to see how the phone caught fire even though it wasn’t being charged. Moreover, it was also reported that Darin’s phone had a crack, before this incident took place. It is not yet clear whether this was the reason for the explosion or not.
For Darin, it was a pain to see his iPhone burn down this way. This isn’t the first time that the iPhone has exploded; remember, earlier too we reported about Gareth Clear, an Australian consultant suffering from burns after his iPhone exploded in the pocket?
It is disappointing to see how people struggle hard to buy a costly iPhone and how it gets damaged in no time! Have you had any bad experience with your iPhone yet? Do let us know in our comments section below.
