Indian cricket may be brimming with young talent but the IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal believes that experience still holds the key to success. Reflecting on the recent ODI series against Australia, Arun Dhumal said that while the next generation of players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi is exciting to watch, the leadership and skill of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli continue to define the team’s strength.

He pointed out that both the senior players remain crucial to India’s one-day setup, especially after their commanding performances in the series. Rohit, who was named both Player of the Match in the final game and Player of the Series, produced a brilliant unbeaten 121 in the third ODI as India chased down 237 with ease. Virat Kohli too found his rhythm again with a steady 74 not out, showcasing the calm and control that have long been his trademarks.

Arun Dhumal praised Rohit Sharma’s consistency and fighting spirit, noting how the former Indian captain turned his form around after a slow start in the first two matches. From a low score in Perth to a gritty 73 in Adelaide and finally a masterful 121 in Sydney, Rohit’s 202 runs across the series reflected his determination and hunger to perform. Dhumal said that such performances are proof of the hard work and conviction that players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli bring to the team, even after years at the top level.

He also emphasised that while India’s bench strength continues to grow stronger, it is the balance between youth and experience that will keep the team competitive in major tournaments. The presence of emerging stars like young Vaibhav Suryavanshi adds depth but it is veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who continue to inspire the next generation with their example.
With the 2027 World Cup already on the horizon, Rohit Sharma’s recent form and fitness have sent a clear message — age is no barrier when passion and discipline drive you forward.
