Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has unexpectedly found himself at the centre of social media buzz after replying to a BCCI post about a vacant position on the men’s selection committee.

The India all-rounder responded to the BCCI’s post inviting applications for one selector’s position. He simply asked about the process of applying for the job, adding a laughing emoji.
Ravindra Jadeja tweeted, “What the procedure?”

His short reply quickly went viral, with fans and netizens wondering whether it had any connection to former chief selector Ajit Agarkar, who stepped down from his position on Wednesday. Ravindra Jadeja is not particularly active on X. Before this, his most recent reply came on February 19, when he responded to former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in a post related to Nepal cricket.
There has never been a public confrontation between Jadeja and Ajit Agarkar. However, Agarkar played an important role in India’s transition towards a younger T20I squad.

After India’s disappointing exit from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, Ajit Agarkar believed the team needed to start looking beyond some of its senior players. He began working towards giving India’s T20I side a younger identity. That transition was temporarily delayed when Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja returned to India’s T20I setup ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. India eventually won the tournament.
However, Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja announced their T20I retirements on the same day India won the World Cup. Their departures then opened the door for the younger generation and allowed the transition Agarkar had been working towards to move ahead.
During Ajit Agarkar’s tenure as chief selector, Ravindra Jadeja was also left out of India’s ODI squads for the Sri Lanka series in 2024 and the Australia series in 2025. Despite those omissions, Agarkar had maintained that Jadeja remained an important part of India’s ODI plans.

Ravindra Jadeja had previously acknowledged that selection decisions were not in his hands, saying that he wanted to continue playing but that the team management, selectors, coach and captain would make decisions based on their own thinking and reasons.
Against this backdrop, Ravindra Jadeja’s unexpected reply to the BCCI’s selector vacancy post has attracted considerable attention online, although there is no confirmation that his comment was aimed at Ajit Agarkar or connected to his exit.
