On Thursday, a group of Muslim leaders assembled at Mahim Dargah and criticized the terrorist group Islamic State and also requested the youth to not to follow radicalism.

More than 100 Muslim leaders, including many Maulanas and muftis came together to condemn the acts of Islamic State, the terrorist organization which recently killed 130 people in Paris on November 13. The security agencies of the whole world are making strategy to counter this group as they are capable of brainwashing and recruiting youngsters through internet.

Maulana Syed Moinuddin Ashraf declared that all the religious heads will be talking about ISIS and will make people aware of its deadly purposes.

Sohail Khandwani, trustee of Mahim Dargah told that the website of dargah has a dedicated page on terrorism and counseling of youngsters will be done to save from radicalism, he also said, “Soon we will launch a mobile application.”

As per a report in Mirror, the top maulanas, muftis and heads of various religious organizations are working on to device a counter attack on ISIS, through social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to save youngsters from joining ISIS.

On Wednesday, Maulana Khalilur Rehman Noori, general secretary of Tanzeeme Masjid(an organization of Imams with more than 10,000 members in the city) said, “The fact that ISIS is using the name of Islam but has nothing to do with Islam needs to be engraved in the minds of the community’s youth.”

The members of different communities were also present in the Thursday’s meeting. Chairman of Prabhadevi’s Siddhivinayak Temple said that a small group of bad people defames the whole community with their acts, he said, “It holds true for all communities. We need to tackle the issue sensitively and aggressively.”

Mahesh Patil, Deputy Police commissioner, who was also present at the meeting said, “Radicals are everywhere. They are present in all communities. Parents need to pay greater attention towards their children’s online activities.”

The event was under vigilance and police officers in plain clothes were keeping a watch as they were there to collect intelligence, one of the officers said, “Most of the participants at the gathering were against the ISIS ideology.”
