“It’s A Pretty Big Insult,” Adam Gilchrist Hits Out At Cricket Australia For Team Selection

The Australian cricket team is getting slammed a lot for its poor performances in the first two test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and after taking an unassailable lead of 2-0, the Indians have ensured that the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be retained by them only even if the Aussies win the remaining two matches.

While the Australian batters are getting criticized for their shot selection, the Aussie team management is getting slammed for team selection as many former Aussie cricketers are not happy with the team selected for the first two test matches.

The former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist is very upset with the Cricket Australia for not including the Australian cricketer Ashton Agar in the playing XI in the first two test matches despite the fact that he is a part of the squad, especially when the matches were played on spin-friendly tracks.

Ashton Agar is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler who made his debut in 2013 and since then, he has played 5 test matches, 20 ODIs and 47 T20Is for the country. The last test match that he played for Australia was against the Proteas in 2022.

While talking to a radio channel, Adam Gilchrist says that it is a pretty big insult for Ashton Agar for not being picked up in the playing XI. As per him, there are murmurs that Agar may fly back home as he must be feeling that he is surplus of what is required by his team, especially if he has no idea as to why he is not picked.

As per the latest reports, Ashton Agar has returned to Australia and he will be playing in Sheffield Shield as the team management has no plans to include him in the squad even for the remaining two test matches.

On the chances of Cameron Green playing in the next test match as he is fit now, the former Aussie cricketer states that he feels the Aussies will still play with three spinners as it is what conditions may demand even if Green is fit now.

Adam Gilchrist adds that he felt this Aussie team has everything which is needed to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 but he is surprised on the manner in which the things have turned up.

We are waiting eagerly for the third test match which will be played from 1st March 2023 at Holkar Stadium, what about you?
