The Indian spinners especially Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have proved to be too difficult to handle for the Australian batting line-up in the first two test matches as in both the games, the Indian spinners took 16 out of 20 Aussie wickets.
Australia lost the Nagpur test match by an innings and 132 runs but in the Delhi test match, it looked in control as it not only managed to restrict India at 262 runs and take a lead of 1 runs but it also played well in the second innings and scored 61/1 by the end of the day 2. However, the situation changed completely on the day 3 of the match as the Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja (7 wickets) and Ravichandran Ashwin (3 wickets) wrapped up the Australian side in the first 90 minutes of the day 3.
Though the Indian team lost 4 wickets while chasing the target of 115, still it was not a very big target and India won the match by 6 wickets.
The former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja who has been replaced by Najam Sethi from the post of the PCB chief some time back feels that it is impossible to defeat India in India. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ramiz Raja stated that there was a time when the Aussies used to finish the games against the teams from sub-continent in Perth or Brisbane but things have changed now.
He adds that Australia seems to be unprepared as far as playing good test cricket against India is concerned because its performance against the spin in the second test match was ordinary. He further continued that 9 wickets were taken in one session and it was marvelous bowling performance by Ravindra Jadeja.
India has already taken the lead of 2-0 in the 4-match test series and it will look forward to whitewash the series in order to go to the finals of the World Test Championship 2021-23 with high level of confidence.
The International Cricket Council has planned the WTC final from June 7 to June 11 at The Oval, London, and hopefully India will ensure its berth by winning the next two matches.
