Celebrations didn’t end with the trophy, they came with a massive payday too. The International Cricket Council announced a huge prize pool for the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. A total of 20 teams competed for global glory but it was the Indian cricket team that stood tallest once again.
Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, India clinched their second consecutive T20 World Cup title and became the first team in history to win the tournament three times. Along with the silverware, the champions are set to receive a hefty cash reward.
The ICC had set aside a total prize pool of USD 11 million (around ₹101 crore) for the tournament. Every participating team was guaranteed a base amount of USD 112,500 (about ₹1.03 crore) just for taking part.
How much will the Indian team get?
Reports say the champions India will receive USD 2.34 million (approximately ₹21.5 crore).
The runners-up, the New Zealand national cricket team, will take home USD 1.17 million (around ₹10.75 crore).

SKY-led team India scripted history
Expectations were sky-high when India began their campaign as tournament favourites but the journey wasn’t smooth at the start.
They opened with a hard-fought win over the United States and followed it up with a victory against Namibia. Still, neither performance looked dominant.
India soon found their rhythm. A commanding win against Pakistan in Colombo secured their place in the Super 8 stage. The co-hosts won all the four group matches but stumbled in their first Super 8 fixture with a heavy loss to South Africa.
That defeat turned the pressure up. India needed must-win victories against Zimbabwe and West Indies and they delivered.
Their strong comeback set up a semi-final showdown with England at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Fans witnessed a thrilling run-fest as India held their nerve to seal a tense seven-run victory and book a place in the final.
In the title clash, India produced a complete all-round performance and stormed to a dominant 96-run win, sealing a historic triumph and a richly deserved reward.
