He was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy but he also got injured in the final test and since then, fans are eager to know about the status of his back injury.
Jasprit Bumrah has firmly dismissed reports suggesting that he was advised bed rest following a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He addressed the rumours directly and called the claims ‘fake news’ that made him laugh.
A leading publication had earlier quoted unnamed sources stating that Jasprit Bumrah experienced back swelling after returning from Australia, requiring bed rest until the swelling subsided. The report also mentioned that the Indian star pacer was supposed to visit the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence but no date had been confirmed.
Responding to the report, Jasprit Bumrah wrote on X, “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable”.

Bumrah sustained his back injury during the final Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He refrained from bowling at full capacity in the first innings and eventually left the field for scans. He did not bowl in the final innings and India lost the match, conceding the series by 3-1.
Speculation has continued since the injury, with the BCCI yet to issue an official report. Some media outlets suggest that the board is awaiting updates from the medical staff.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s only all-format player and a crucial part of the squad, is expected to miss the upcoming white-ball series against England as he races to recover in time for the Champions Trophy 2025 starting in February.
