It was supposed to be a routine build-up to another India vs South Africa clash but events in Lucknow quickly took an unexpected turn. A short video of Jasprit Bumrah losing his cool with a fan began circulating online, sparking debate and setting the tone for an evening filled with frustration.

In the viral clip, Jasprit Bumrah is seen walking while a fan films himself with the Indian pacer in the background. Bumrah appears visibly uncomfortable and even warns the fan to be careful, hinting that the phone might fall. When the recording doesn’t stop and the personal space issue continues, the fast bowler finally snaps and takes the phone away. The video cuts off immediately, leaving social media divided. While some criticised Jasprit Bumrah for reacting strongly, many others stood by him, pointing out that players are often pushed beyond limits by intrusive behaviour.

Jasprit Bumrah is currently part of India’s five-match T20I series against South Africa. He featured in the first two matches but missed the third encounter due to personal reasons. Ahead of the fourth T20I in Lucknow, he had rejoined the squad and was seen warming up with the team earlier in the evening.

However, the night only got worse for fans. Thick fog covered the Ekana Cricket Stadium, making visibility extremely poor. The match, scheduled to start at 7 PM, saw multiple inspections by officials as players waited inside the dressing rooms. Warm-ups were abandoned by around 7:30 PM and after six checks, the contest was officially called off at 9:30 PM without even a toss.
The abandoned match triggered anger among fans, many of whom had waited hours in the cold. The cricket board also faced criticism for scheduling a night game in north India during winter. A senior political leader publicly questioned the decision, suggesting the match should have been hosted in a city with clearer weather and better air quality.
What should have been a high-voltage cricket evening ended with disappointment, debates over fan behaviour, questions around scheduling and yet another reminder that even stars like Jasprit Bumrah are human after all.
