The Indian cricket team will certainly like to start its test campaign against Bangladesh with a win after losing the 3-match ODI series by 2-1 but there is a lot to worry for the Indian team management as few seniors are out of form plus injuries are a big concern too for the team.
The skipper Rohit Sharma won’t be a part of the squad due to his thumb injury and the pacer Mohammad Shami has also been ruled out of the series because of an injury. However, one person’s loss is another person’s gain and the same thing happened over here as well.
The Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat who plays for Saurashtra in the domestic level got the chance of making a comeback in the Indian test team after waiting for long 12 years as he has been named as replacement for Mohammad Shami.
It was a very emotional moment for Jaydev Unadkat as he was hoping to get one more chance to play for the country. If you remember, earlier in the beginning of this year, he made a tweet in which he posted the image of a red ball with the caption, “Dear red ball, please give me one more chance.. I’ll make you proud, promise!”

After getting the call from the national selectors for joining the team in Bangladesh, Jaydev took to Twitter, expressed his happiness and thanked all those who believed in him and supported him. He share a photo of himself and wrote, “Okay, looks like it’s real! This one’s for all those who have kept believing & supporting me..I am grateful #267 @BCCI”

Jaydev Unadkat made his international test debut in 2010 against South Africa at Centurion. In that test match, he conceded 101 runs and went wicketless. He didn’t get the chance to play for the country in tests after his debut test match so getting a call after 12 years is certainly a big achievement. He has also represented the country in 7 ODIs and 10 T20Is in which he has taken 8 & 14 wickets, respectively.
The Saurashtra cricketer has performed brilliantly in domestic circuits over the years and he is the first player to lead Saurashtra to the Ranji Trophy title in 2020. As per the reports, the cricketer has been picked in the team on the basis of his current form as he took 19 wickets in 10 matches in recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy and helped his team in winning the tournament.
We wish all the best to the Indian cricketer! Hopefully he will have a memorable comeback and will be of great help to the Indian squad in starting its campaign on a winning note.
