On Sunday, Virat Kohli recorded his 30th ODI century and impressed his fans once again. Under his guidance, India registered a brilliant 6 wicket win against Sri Lanka. This is the 2nd time, Kohli scored a 100 in this series. With 30 ODI centuries, Kohli leveled up with Ricky Ponting, the Australian legend.
However, he couldn’t match up to the level of Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 ODI centuries on his name. Obviously, it’s not so easy to surpass Tendulkar’s record but people have hopes that Kohli will surely be able to do it. Since he’s just 19 centuries away from it, fans couldn’t stop themselves from making this comparison.

Kohli couldn’t escape this question during the post match press conference too. As expected, a journalist asked Kohli if he would be able to break Sachin’s record. Kohli had the most awesome reply to this question.
Firstly, he appreciated the dedication and hard-work put in by the Master Blaster and then, he gave a mind-blowing response. He said that instead of thinking about records, he is thinking about the victory of the team.
He said,
“The great man (Sachin Tendulkar) is quite a bit away. That’s going to take a hell of an effort. Again, I am not thinking about that. It’s only about the team where even if I score a 90 not out and the team goes across the line, it’s good enough for me.”

He further added,
“ I look to perform as well as I can for the team. These things keep happening as you go along in your career. You don’t target these things, but those stat windows are hard to neglect because they pop up everywhere after you have achieved something.”
This was indeed a heartwarming response by Virat Kohli, wasn’t it? Let’s see if he is able to break his record or not. What do you think?
