The Indian cricket squad may have been one of the strongest teams of the world and it may have been performing well in the bilateral series but its failure in winning any ICC trophy for almost 10 years now has left fans very disappointed and hurt.
The last ICC trophy that was won by team India was the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 which India won under the leadership of MS Dhoni and since then, it has failed in winning any ICC trophy despite coming close to the trophy quite a few times.
Many overseas cricketers especially from the England cricket team have praised the Indian Premier League after winning the World Cup tournaments for improving their game in the shortest format but at the same time, it has given a chance to haters to slam the IPL and say that the Indian T20 league has benefitted everyone except the Indian cricketers.
Not just the Indian cricket team but the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is also on the receiving end because of the Indian cricket team’s constant failure in the multi-nation events but the former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal has a different opinion.
While speaking in an interview to a local TV channel, Kamran Akmal lauds the Indian team and its performances. He says that there are many who talk about India not winning an ICC event for 10 years but a team can’t win each and every ICC event. He further states that if winning an ICC event is the only criterion, the teams of New Zealand and South Africa should be prohibited from taking part in any tournament because they haven’t won any ICC trophy.
Rohit Sharma led Indian cricket team has a good chance of winning the ODI World Cup this year as the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be hosted by India later this year and if we take a look at the last three ODI World Cups, they have been won by the hosts – India (2011), Australia (2015) and England (2019).
