The Sri Lankan team never seemed in the contest as it got wrapped up at the score of 137 runs in 16.4 overs and SKY was obviously adjudged as the Player of the Match for his spectacular innings.

While social media got flooded with appreciation tweets for Suryakumar Yadav which were made by other cricketers, fans and followers, now the legendary former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has showered praises on the Mumbai cricketer. While talking about his sensational innings against Sri Lanka, Kapil Dev says that he doesn’t have words to describe SKY’s batting.

The 1983 World Cup winning skipper states that he has seen Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and he feels that Suryakumar Yadav is in the same league as these great players. Kapil Dev goes on to say that SKY plays unbelievable shots and he can hit the ball anywhere, the ability which is possessed by very few cricketers. Kapil Dev calls Suryakumar Yadav once in a century cricketer and naturally coming from a legend, this admiration will certainly mean a lot for SKY.

India will now face Sri Lanka in 3-match ODI series which will start from January 10 and the first ODI will be played at Guwahati, Assam. While Hardik Pandya led the team in T20Is, Rohit Sharma will be back for ODIs and he will be leading the team in this format. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will also return in the squad but this time KL Rahul won’t be the vice-captain, he will play the role of wicketkeeper-batter in the team. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the team’s vice-captain and hopefully India will repeat its success of T20Is in ODIs as well.
