The appointment of Brendon McCullum as the head coach of the England cricket team brought a revolution in England Cricket as he changed their approach completely in test cricket. The English cricketers started playing aggressive cricket in test matches and their new style was named as Bazball.
In the second test match against West Indies, the Indian team also played aggressive cricket and registered the fastest 100 in test cricket. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also smashed his fastest fifty in test format.
The former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev gave an interview recently in which he was asked to shed his opinion on Bazball and whether the Indian team should also adopt this approach or not. Kapil Dev says that Bazball is a wonderful thing and recently concluded Ashes series 2023 (England Vs Australia) was one of the finest test series that he watched. He further says that though Rohit Sharma is good yet he needs to be more aggressive and he should now think of playing like England. The legendary cricketer under whose captaincy India won the 1983 World Cup further says that every cricketing nation should now think of playing aggressive cricket as winning should be their priority and not drawing the match.
Kapil Dev also gives an important suggestion for the senior Indian players, he asks how many domestic matches have been played by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or any other senior player of the Indian cricket team. He adds that domestic cricket is very important and both Virat and Rohit should play a good number of domestic cricket matches as it will help the young generation.
Rohit and Virat were not a part of the Indian team which played the 5-match T20I series against West Indies and they are also not named in the team which is going on a tour to Ireland.
Both the senior players will be back in the team in the Asia Cup 2023 and hopes are riding high as fans want to see them perform because the ICC ODI World Cup is also around the corner.
Do you agree with Kapil Dev that all the teams should play test matches in Bazball style? Let us know your views in this connection.
