On Saturday, Yogi Adityanath made an announcement that the name of Allahabad will soon change to Prayagraj and now Justice Markandey Katju has given a hilarious reaction on this.
Katju took a dig at UP CM for this decision by providing a list of many other cities of the state that can be renamed.
His list includes 18 cities and the funniest ones are renaming Muzaffarnagar to Murlimanoharnagar, Faizabad to Narendramodipur, Fatehpur to Amitshahnagar and Moradabad to Mankibaatnagar.
Here’s what he shared on the micro-blogging site Twitter:
“Dear @myogiadityanath,
Congratulations for renaming Allahabad as Prayag.
But surely that is not enough. I recommend the following further name changes of UP cities be made to eliminate names of these Babur ki Aulads altogether:
1. Aligarh to Ashwatthamanagar
2. Agra to Agastyanagar
3. Ghazipur to Ganeshpur
4. Shahjehanpur to Sugrivpur
5. Muzaffarnagar to Murlimanoharnagar
6. Azamgarh to Alaknandapur
7. Hamirpur to Hastinapur
8. Lucknow to Laxmanpur
9. Bulandshahr to Bajrangbalipur
10. Faizabad to Narendramodipur
11. Fatehpur to Amitshahnagar
12. Ghaziabad to Gajendranagar
13. Firozabad to Dronacharyanagar
14. Farrukhabad to Angadpur
15. Ghazibad to Ghatotkachnagar
16. Sultanpur to Saraswathinagar
17. Moradabad to Mankibaatnagar
18. Mirzapur to Meerabai Nagar

Last week, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said that if everyone agrees, name of Allahabad will be changed to Prayag Raj as two holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna join here and therefore, it has confluence of rivers. He further said that a number of individuals might want Allahabad to be renamed as Prayag Raj and he is of the opinion that it will be a good start and a very good message will be conveyed through it.
This renaming might happen prior to the start of Kumbh Mela in the city from 15th January, 2019 and if reports are to be believed, banners of Kumbh Mela also name the city as Prayag Raj in place of Allahabad.
