Yes, you read it right! This man got wed in a manner that no one can imagine and even the groom would never have thought of it. A Malayalam news website Kairali News Online reported that Harris who’s presently working in Saudi Arabia was left with no option but to watch his own marriage ceremony live on the Internet. Unbelievable and shocking but true!

Harris hails from Kollam, Kerala, and this one-of-a-kind marriage took place in Thamarakulam, Alappuzha. He was extremely busy on account of work and owing to some professional commitments, he wasn’t granted leave at the eleventh hour which resulted in his virtual marriage. The groom’s role was played by the sister of Harris who tied a sacred thread called thali around the neck of the bride.

Despite the fact that such marriages take place among Muslims across the globe, as Nikah happens over phone or with a photo, the validity of this concept is still a topic of debate.

Even though this marriage was scheduled in advance, the groom preferred attending it online from thousands of kilometers away rather than choosing the option to postpone it. Many Keralites work in the Middle East; however, NRIs are afraid of being fired and hence, they prefer going for work instead of taking leaves since locals also seek for opportunities. And the same is the reason as to why Harris was unable to attend his own marriage ceremony. As of work, Harris is a marketing manager in Saudi Arabia’s private firm, whereas Shamla Makkayil, the bride, serves as a nurse in a govt. hospital. This unique marriage ceremony was attended by families and friends of both the parties.

The video of their wedding was posted by PeopleLIVE on Facebook:
