The India-England four match test series is quite important for both the teams considering the fact that the winner of this series will be playing the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 and India seems to be having the upper hand as of now. While the series stands leveled at 1-1 with England winning the first test match and India winning the second one, the third test match is also in a very interesting situation now.

The first two test matches were played in Chennai and the third and fourth test matches will be played in Ahmedabad. In the third test match, England won the toss and decided to bat but they had a pretty bad first innings as the whole team bundled on only 112 runs in the 48.4 overs. Only the English opener Zak Crawley managed to show some resistance to the Indian bowlers, especially the spinners as he scored 53 runs for which he played 84 balls. Dom Sibley and Jonny Bairstow were not even able to open their account and went for duck while the hero of the first test match, i.e., skipper Joe Root could score only 17 runs before being dismissed by the hero of the second test match Ravichandran Ashwin. Axar Patel was the pick of the Indian bowlers with 6 wickets for which he gave only 38 runs while R Ashwin took 3 wickets.

In response, the Indian team had a steady start as they ended the day one with 99/3 but till the time, this article was written India’s score was 134/9 and Rohit Sharma, the Indian opener who was batting beautifully, has also returned to pavilion after scoring 66 runs.

The former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag who is known for his destructive batting in his cricketing days has taken a jibe at the England cricket team for their dismal performance. The Nawab of Najafgarh has been quite active on the social media after his retirement and his fans love him for his wittiness and sense of humour that is apparently visible in his posts on social media networks.

Talking about Sehwag’s tweet, he used a video of viral speech of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with the caption, “England batsman as soon as they come on the wicket”.

The Delhi cricketer was soon praised for his sense of humour by not just his fans but another Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh as well.

Bhajji wrote, “Classic Viru” with laughing emojis:

The Punjab cricketer will be playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021.

Axar Patel has also opened up on his wonderful performance as he says that a player should try to get the maximum benefit when the things are in his favour. He says that he kept the ball wicket to wicket and as the ball is skidding more in Ahmedabad, more batsmen are getting out lbw. He further states that 85-90kph is the right speed and as the batsmen are playing more and more T20 cricket, they are getting aggressive. Axar is of the opinion that a bowler goes at the backfoot when the batsman defends but if the batsman is playing more sweeps and reverse sweeps rather than defending, the bowler should try his best as there are chances of getting a wicket.

Which team do you think will win the third match – India or England?
