The IPL fever is in full swing in the country and the franchises are also making sure that fans not just get entertained by watching cricket but they should also get to witness the fun moments which happen within the players and the team members. Recently, the Delhi Capital star batter KL Rahul found the perfect moment to tease Delhi Capitals’ team mentor Kevin Pietersen who had taken a brief family trip to the Maldives during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The former England captain’s short break has become the subject of much friendly banter among players and fans alike.
Kevin Pietersen missed Delhi’s clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 10, a game that the Capitals managed to win without him. He rejoined the squad in time for their next match against Mumbai Indians on April 13. With Delhi enjoying a superb season so far — winning five out of their six games and sitting comfortably at the top of the points table — the mood in the camp has been upbeat and jovial.
A recent video shared by Delhi Capitals on social media captured a fun exchange that quickly went viral. The clip shows Kevin Pietersen in conversation with Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill. When Gill asked him what was going on, Kevin Pietersen joked about his own role, saying, “Bro, what’s a mentor? No one knows what a mentor is. Can you tell me what a mentor is?” Rahul, standing nearby, seized the moment with a cheeky response: “Mentor is someone who goes to the Maldives for two weeks mid-season,” leaving Kevin Pietersen completely stumped and everyone else in splits.

As the Capitals gear up for a high-stakes match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on April 19, all eyes will be on the showdown between Mitchell Starc and Mohammed Siraj. Delhi will be hoping to continue their dominant run, having just edged past Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling Super Over. Mitchell Starc played a pivotal role in that match, delivering three near-perfect overs, including the decisive Super Over, to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Having opted out of the Champions Trophy to recover after the intense Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Starc has returned to the IPL action rejuvenated and in top form. Delhi’s challenge now will be to maintain this momentum and wrap up their wins within regulation time, rather than rely on last-minute heroics.
