The Indian cricket team has secured its place in the finals of the ICC World Test Championship in which they will be clashing against New Zealand at Lord’s. The Indian squad’s spot was confirmed only after it won the recently concluded four match test series against England by 3-1.
The fourth and the final test match which was played at Ahmedabad was won by India by 25 runs and innings and once again Rishabh Pant played an important role in his team’s victory. Rishabh Pant may have been targeted earlier by the trolls for his poor form and mistakes that he made during wicket-keeping but at present, he is certainly one of the favourite Indian cricketers of the Indian fans.
Rishabh Pant grabbed the opportunity with open arms when he got the chance to play for the country in India-Australia series and he has continued with his good form in the series against England as well. The left-handed batsman is getting a lot of praises for his gutsy knock of 101 in the fourth and final test match as it came at a time when the Indian team was struggling with 4 top order batsmen back in pavilion at the score of 80. Rishabh tried to stabilize the innings with Rohit Sharma but soon the latter was dismissed and Ravichandran Ashwin was also not able to stay on the crease for a long time. However, Rishabh Pant got a good partner in the form of Washington Sundar and they both made 113 runs in partnership.
Though Rishabh Pant is known for his aggressive style, until India leveled its score with England’s total of 205, Pant batted with patience and after that, he started playing his natural game. Rishabh Pant played 82 balls for completing his first 50 but for his second 50, he played only 33 deliveries and scored his first century in India. What made his innings more special was that he reached his 100 by hitting a six on Joe Root’s bowling, something for which former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was quite famous.
The former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth was all praises for the young Indian wicket-keeper and called his century a terrific one. Srikkanth took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote that he has never seen such a destruction since Australia’s Adam Gilchrist got retired.
This is what Kris Srikkanth tweeted, “What a terrific century by @RishabhPant17 when Team India needed it the most! Never seen such destruction by a keeper since Gilly #ENGvIND #pant #TeamIndia”

Hopefully, we will get to see Rishabh Pant in the T20Is and ODIs as well.
