Sunday night at Wankhede Stadium turned into an unforgettable IPL spectacle as Mumbai Indians locked horns with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026. What followed was pure entertainment, over four and a half hours of non-stop action and a flood of runs.
A massive 462 runs were scored in 40 overs, with batters smashing 36 fours and 29 sixes. In the end, RCB held their nerve to win by 18 runs in a game that kept fans on the edge throughout.
Amid all the big hitting, one moment stood out. MI skipper Hardik Pandya was fighting hard with a rapid 40 off 21 balls, trying to keep his team in the chase. But in the 15th over, RCB pacer Jacob Duffy delivered a crucial breakthrough as Hardik Pandya was caught by Romario Shepherd.
The drama did not end there. Krunal Pandya, Hardik’s elder brother, celebrated the wicket with visible excitement, fully aware that this moment could decide the game. It added an emotional twist to an already intense clash.

After the loss, MI’s third this season, Hardik Pandya admitted that the team needs to rethink its strategy. He pointed out that both batting and bowling departments must improve and that relying on the toss alone won’t help.
Currently sitting eighth on the points table, MI now face a tough road ahead. Their next match is against Punjab Kings on Thursday, a side that remains unbeaten so far this season.
