The District Food Safety Authority has taken action against a Domino’s Pizza outlet on NH-24 near Gajraula, after the samples of its tomato sauce were tested in the laboratory and found “below standard”.

The samples were sent to the state food laboratory by the Food Safety Office Anil Singh, and after the results came, the license of the outlet has been suspended till any decision is taken.

Chief Food Safety Officer Anil Singh from Amrohha told “The decision came after samples taken from the outlet failed lab test.”

Although the Jubilant Foodworks Ltd., the company which manages operations of Domino’s Pizza Brand in India and Srilanka, has termed the test as “invalid”.

This is what the spokesperson of Jubilant Foodworks Ltd. had said “We are raising this case with the relevant respected authorities to check the validity of the suspension order, given this background.”

He further added “The particular sample under question, was manufactured in September 2014 and collected for testing in October 2014. It failed test on ground of “package label non-compliance”, as the label was detaching from the package but “passed” on all other parameters of food safety. The retest was carried out in March 2015 from the same sample, which in the meantime had gone past it’s ‘Best before Date’, which was 6 months. Thus, it was an invalid test.”

Chief Food Safety Officer Anil Singh told that the report on the suspension has been sent to District Magistrate of Amrohha, Ved Prakash and he further added “Domino’s Pizza may go and appeal to the Food Safety Commissioner Lucknow. They cannot supply till the decision (on the appeal).”

Just recently the Maggi noodles was banned as it failed the laboratory test and now one more brand in under the scanner of Food Safety Authority of India.
