Maharajas Express: 12 Exclusive Pics Of The Most Expensive Train In The History Of India!

Maharajas Express joined Indian Railways in 2010 and still it is the latest entrant in the luxurious segment of trains and one of the costliest trains not only in India but also in Asia. The journey on this train is of Eight days and in these eight days; the travelers get to visit the most desirous and beautiful locations of India such as The Taj Mahal of Agra, Ranthambore’s wildlife surroundings, the temples of Khajuraho, Fatehpur Sikri and the holy ghats of religious Varanasi. The starting fare is US$ 800 for a deluxe cabin; higher range of cabins is US$900 per day and US$1400 per day, while the Presidential suite will charge US$2500 per day. The food and drinks provided in the train is complimentary.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is the sole owner of Maharajas Express and they are promoting the tour under the tagline ‘luxury travel like no other’, which is certainly obvious. The train can accommodate 88 travelers enjoying a royal journey. The coach of this train is the one which is used as Third AC coach in normal train.
Each cabin of the train has its own temperature regulator, LCD TV, DVD players, internet, DD telephones and in fact, the cabins have live TV facility with Electric safe-deposit locker.

The train has 24 carriages, which not only includes accommodation and dining but also bar, lounge, store coaches and generator. Each carriage has been designed in such a manner that every traveler should think of himself as a King or Queen. The interiors are designed in a classy manner with complex but beautiful carvings, sylvan parquets expressing the greatness of fine craftsmanship.

Windows fitted in the carriages are designed in panorama shape to give the travelers a mighty view of beautiful scenery of India. It also has an observation lounge “Rajah Club” which also has a private bar. The train also has two gracefully designed dining cars whose menu list includes splendid cuisine for the travelers. The best wines from all around the world are served to the travelling in the cozy and soothing atmosphere of the bar. There is also high class boutique in the train and it has some beautiful pieces which can help the travelers in remembering this journey for lifetime.
