Indian Currency notes have always been hailed with the image of Mahatma Gandhi, but the Hindu Mahasabha now wants that the like of B.R Ambedkar, Veer Shivaji, Maharana Pratap to adorn the currency notes. Both Mayawati and Bahujan Samaj Party has previously used Ambedkar as their “dalit icon” to woo the vote bank of backward classed specifically in Uttar Pradesh.
If this was not enough, BSP has also seek that the concept of “Father of Nation” that has been associated with Mahatma Gandhi, should not be taught in schools. And, the date of assassination of Gandhi – 30th January be treated as “shaurya diwas”, which otherwise is officially observed as “Martyrs Day”. The shaurya diwas would be observed in 20 districts throughout the country.
BSP also plans to run a month long campaign to spread the ideologies of Nathuram Godse which will end on the day Gandhi was shot dead by Godse. The notion of “Undivided India” is what ideologically BSP follows.
