Mahela Jayawardene Showers Praises On Rahul Chahar, Says He Has Got Bowling Intelligence

Rahul Chahar, the young Indian leg-spinner who plays for the IPL team Mumbai Indians, has been getting a lot of praises because of his wonderful performances in the IPL 2021. Chahar has played an important role in the last two matches that have been won by the Rohit Sharma-led side. Recently, MI defeated Kolkata Knight Riders and the latter would have won that match easily if Chahar had not taken four wickets.

Chahar has been associated with MI for the last three years and the head coach of the Mumbai franchise Mahela Jayawardene is pretty happy with his progress. The former Sri Lankan skipper says that the management is very pleased with the progress of Rahul Chahar as now he has also developed intelligence. Jayawardene says that it is not just about the skills all the time, Chahar is good in improvising as he has developed the ability of changing the game plan or strategy depending on how the batsman is batting.

Mahela Jayawardene adds that Chahar is now leading their spin department and he has been consistent in his performances. Jayawardene said that Chahar was a raw talent when he started playing for MI and though he has improved a lot, he is still a young cricketer. He further said that not just in the IPL 2021 but last year in UAE also, Chahar played well. According to the head coach, though there have been ups and downs in the journey of Rahul Chahar, the good thing is that there is improvement in him every year and he is also learning.

Talking about his bowlers, Jayawardene says that they have been focusing on bowlers a lot as bowlers win championships. He says that they have worked pretty hard in developing such a set up as a team needs to have quality bowling options in all the conditions.

MI will be playing their next match today against Delhi Capitals.
