The Facebook post was in Malyalam language and it read, “One trouble is less now. Now his wife will get a job and money. Common people will get nothing. What a stinking democracy!

Sub Inspector Shah Jahan of Chevayur police station, where the complaint was lodged against Anwar, said, “His Facebook post was seen as promoting enmity among people, insulting a martyr and undermining the Indian democracy. Anwar Sadhik was arrested last night and was charged under Section 124 B.”

The complaint against Anwar was lodged by the regional Madhyamam newspaper as Anwar’s profile on Facebook showed that he is working as a journalist in the newspaper. However, it was not the case in reality and the newspaper was also afraid of getting its reputation damaged. Police said that the newspaper denied having Anwar as their employee.

Anwar belongs to Kodur, Malappuram and works in a ration shop as a helper; he may get a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if he is convicted in the case.

The last rites of Lt Col Niranjan were performed today in Elambulassery, his native village in Palakkad. Niranjan was a part of bomb detection squad at NSG and he lost his life while defusing a bomb from the body of a terrorist. Tributes flooded on Social Media for the young martyr survived by his wife Radhika and a daughter of two years.
