Last week in Kolkata airport, I had to pay Rs. 300/- for one small cup of tea @The_TeaJunction

— Rajnish Dass (@rajanish_dass) December 30, 2023

So true. Writing this from Bhubaneswar Airport where I just paid Rs.180 for a cup of tea and Rs.100 for a samosa! 😅

Airport is a Rich man's transit point , like a 5 star hotel.

I always pack homemade food for flights so I don't have to come on X and cry about how expensive airport food is.

— Aanchal (@AanchalXIV) December 31, 2023

It costs a lot to setup airport
And it costs a lot to rent a place in airport and it costs a lot to employ people at airport as it is very secure place & hence it costs a lot to serve you food there
Just like it costs a lot to serve coffee in a 5 star than in a road side bandi

There is this wild concept known as location premium.

People become capitalist while earning and socialist while spending.

— Ishwar Singh (@IshwarBagga) December 31, 2023

How much are you paying to travel by air? 10000 to 20000 bucks? Why? Because your time is money. Airports are taking part of that money you earn. Why not travel by bullock cart? You want cake and eat it too?

Sir PhD original hai?? Agar hai toh aise sawaal nahi poochte.

— Walter Red (@WalterScientist) December 31, 2023

Airports are now akin to hotels. Maybe packing our own food ahead of time is a good solution.

— Adi Gupta (@theadigupta) December 31, 2023

Unless there are unavoidable circumstances, avoid eating at the airport.
