Man Conned By A Phone Call & Lost Rs 50,000! Read How They Made Him Share ATM Details

People are often warned not to share their bank or ATM details with any stranger on phone calls; however, the recent incident suggests that not all of us take this advice seriously and hence, end up losing hard-earned money.

Umesh Waghela living in Bhayander received a call from an anonymous person who introduced himself as a staff member of SBI (State Bank of India). The incident took place on Monday when the caller informed Umesh about blocking of his ATM card and asked him to apply for a green remit card. A surprising thing was that Umesh easily shared vital information about his SBI ATM card along with password.

What’s more shocking is that he gave the caller details of his IndusInd bank too on being asked whether he had some other bank’s ATM card as well, which finally resulted in loss of Rs. 50,000 by online transaction in no time. As Umesh received SMS of cash withdrawal, he came to know that someone had conned him. He got his cards blocked and lodged an FIR with Navghar police.
