Being an Indian is not just one factor which makes all this special, Sim is not just like any other ordinary basketball player; he stands tall with the height of 7 feet 5 inches and weigh about 360 pounds. He is the heaviest basketball player whether considering Indian or any other ethnicity. On Twitter, some call Sim as Mahatma Grande.

Sim’s parents migrated to Canada from Punjab, India for better life. Speaking of his family, he has an elder sister Avneet and a younger brother who is 7 feet 3 inches tall and presently playing basketball for New Mexico State.  Sim’s father Avtar is of 6 feet 5 Inches and mother Varinder is 5 feet 10 inches in height. Sim’s parents had no connection with basketball until their sons started playing this sport for college. And now the whole Indian community is proud of Sim. What’s more, hopefully it will also help in improving the condition of basketball in India as well. The New York Times has also stated that Sim is going to be the world’s first prominent basketball player of Indian origin.
