Corporate comedy is finding its place in India. One person that can be credited to giving prominence to this type of comedy is software engineer and now stand-up comic, Anmol Garg.
Popularly known as Corporate Babaji, Anmol realized he shouldn’t have done engineering after doing engineering! He quit his IT job with IBM, tried his hand at event management, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, sales training, soft skills training, emcee’ing and finally standup comedy.
Anmol had 3 startups before getting into standup, all of which didn’t work out! What do you do with 3 failed startups & years of corporate experience? You convert them into content!
He says standup is his last startup now!

Why don’t we have more such content around the corporate world? Because people are scared of speaking up! Anmol says ‘Even if people comment on a funny meme on Linkedin, manager drops a whatsapp message asking the employee to remove it’

Challenges faced in his journey
The genre itself is a challenge to perform. Serious topics like finance and startups require a lot of creativity and the ability to view situations and things from a different perspective.
Also, with a niche genre, comes limited audience. Not everyone can relate to this type of humour.
But what makes Anmol’s comedy a treat to watch is his innate sense of belief and really good observational skills coupled with relatable humour in everyday corporate life!
