A college picnic of students of Inamdar College, Pune turned into a tragedy when 14 of those students lost their lives by drowning in the Murud-Janjira beach in the neighboring area of Raigad district. All the students were in the age group of 18-20 yrs and went there for swimming. An operation was conducted by the Indian navy and Indian coast guards to find the students or their bodies; however, it was taking much time for them to search.
As per some Marathi dailies, Indian Navy and Indian coast guard were searching for the body of Saif Madki, the student who got drowned on Monday, for more than three hours but they could not succeed. It was then some Muslims came there and asked the officials to offer prayers (azaan) where they were searching for Saif. They got the permission and offered prayers for three times in the boat. And it is said that just after the prayers were offered, it took only 10-20 minutes for the officials to recover the body.
Many people in the area now believe that the body was found just because of the magic of the prayers offered.
